Time? [Part-1]

Time is much more complicated a thing than it appears to be. I would try to explain it to my best level without introducing to you the concepts of Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity( big words!).

Firstly, there are two types of time( yes, you read it correct!):

Real Time: This type of time, well, it is real! More accurately, it is what we see passing in our watches. In this time, the universe has a beginning( Big Bang) and an end.

Imaginary Time: this time does not consider universe to have any singularities( beginning & end). It would be too complicated for me to describe this time so, let it be!

To explain to you the effects of gravity on time, let me explain to you the "space-time":

assume a straight streched rubber sheet kept horizontally as the space-time dimention. Now, if you keep a ball on that sheet, the sheet near the ball 'bends'.
this 'bending' is called the space-time curvature. now if you notice, the higher the mass of the ball and the smaller its radius, the more the sheet 'bends', i.e., higher the space-time curvature.

Now comes the heavy concept:

Suppose a man is on the surface of a collapsing star, also supposing he stays alive, he is sending signals at an interval of every second( according to his watch) to his space-ship which is far-away in an orbit.
initially( when the star has not yet collapsed), the signals would reach the ship at an interval of almost a second( according to their watch), because, the space time curvature is 'low' and so 'time has to travel relatively lesser distance'. as the star is collapsing, the space ship would notice the interval between signals gradually increasing because the 'curvature is increasing' with decrease in radius at same mass. At some point of time, when the star becomes a black-hole, they will stop recieveing signals, not because the astronaut is dead, but due to the fact that the space time curvature becomes 'infinite' at the 'surface of the black hole' so time has to travel 'infinite distance' before reaching the ship.

Some distance from the black hole, curvature is high but not infinite, making going into future is possible ' hypothetically'.
